TSAI
Li-hua was born in 1946, Tainan, Taiwan.
She received her MFA degree in modern dance and dance education
from theTexas Christian University in 1999.
During the years of 1964 to 1968, she studied modern dance
and ethnic dances under Professor LIU Fong-shuei and performed
in her many masterpieces.

In 1974,
she started her field research on Taiwanese traditional
folk dances. |

In 1988, she founded ¡§Taipei Folk Dance Theatre¡¨,
which is the first professional ethnic dance company
in Taiwan, and since then have brought many excellent
dancesto the international stage. |

In 1994, she founded ¡§Taiwan
Dance Magazine,¡¨ the first professional magazine devoted
to dance in Taiwan, which drew people¡¦s attention to
the study of Taiwan¡¦sdance history. |

In 1996, she started ¡§Dance Education¡¨ magazine, which
exerted great influence on the improvement of academic
research on dance education in Taiwan. |
